Mayor & Council
The City of Stonecrest has a Council-Manager form of government. There are five Councilmembers and one Mayor, who make up the Council as a whole. Each member of the Council represents one of five districts in Stonecrest.

Municipal Court
The Municipal Court operates under the laws of the State of Georgia and tries all misdemeanor traffic and criminal cases (with some limitations), code enforcement cases, and city ordinance violations that occur within the city limits. The Municipal Court of Stonecrest has jurisdiction over ordinance violations and certain state misdemeanors, including traffic violations, which occur within the city limits of Stonecrest.

In November 2017, DeKalb County voters overwhelmingly passed a referendum approving an additional penny tax to fund key improvements to roads, parks, public safety and transportation projects.
