City of Stonecrest Approves $1.86 Million for Road Improvement Projects

Monday, Stonecrest City Council approved $1.86 million to be allocated to resurface 14.59 lane miles of road.

The paving project includes Burlington, Winslow Crossing and Brooksmill subdivisions.

In August, the City also approved a contract for $3.8 million to resurface 26.33 lane miles of road.

That work is already underway: Stone Bridge Creek Estates, Salem Hills, and Chestnut Lake Preserve subdivisions are included in that project.

Stonecrest began its Streets Resurfacing and Paving Program in 2019.

Since then, the City has resurfaced more than 100 lane miles of road, which is over half of the 213 miles of streets within City limits.

The City also budgeted $100,000 for traffic signal maintenance and earmarked $300,000 for sidewalk construction along Covington Highway and Browns Mill Road.

By the end of the year, the City will have resurfaced 41 lane miles of road as a part of the 2024 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) allocation.
