Committees are generally formed as a collaborative way for select citizens, city staff and elected officials to provide professional insight to efficiently and effectively manage city resources. The formation of committees is based on provisions within a city’s charter. In Stonecrest, committees are formed by the mayor. Members of committees are appointed by council members (including the mayor) then approved by the mayor. Members are usually selected based on their expertise within a given field as it relates to any particular committee. Terms of service are voluntary, and specific to each committee. Each committee selects its own chairperson who is the authoritative voice of the group.
