 Celebrate Georgia Cities Week

The City is Stonecrest READY for Georgia Cities Week 2023, sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) April 23-29. Georgia Cities Week is a statewide celebration that honors cities and gives residents a chance to learn about the services their cities offer, connect with other members of the community, and build relationships with city officials.

The theme for this year is, "Georgia Cities: Lighting the Way." 

Take a look at all the City has planned and mark your calendars to participate in one or more of the Cities Week events!

Lighting the way through PRESERVATION - Saturday, April 22 - Earth Day Summit

City of Stonecrest will kickoff Cities Week with an Earth Day Summit, 11AM - 3PM at Privi Art Gallery, 8020 Mall Pkwy. Keynote speakers and panelists will discuss their perspectives on what it means to be good stewards of the precious lands of Stonecrest. The Earth Day event will center around educating and inspiring attendees to foster a desire to care for the place Stonecrest residents call home.

Sunday, April 23 - Churches praying for Stonecrest. Whether you live and attend church in Stonecrest or not, please keep citizens, coworkers, and leaders in your thoughts.

Monday, April 24 - City Council Meeting - If you have not had the opportunity to participate in a Stonecrest City Council meeting, consider joining our Mayor and Councilmembers in the Chambers to hear about city business. Wednesday, April 26 - Wednesday After-Work Unwind - You are cordially invited to laugh, eat, and enjoy music by DJ Boone. Festivities will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 8:30 pm.

Thursday, April 27 - Staff Appreciation (City Hall will be CLOSED from 11:30AM - 1:30PM) 

 

Lighting the way through LIFE

Did you know that African American, Asian American, and Latino populations in the U.S. have a high percentage of types O and B blood, which are often in high demand by hospitals? Help ensure that patients have the blood they need, when it’s needed. Give blood or platelets with the American Red Cross. 

Friday, April 28 - Red Cross Blood Drive - Red Cross will be hosting a Blood Drive from 10:00AM – 2:00PM. The event will take place at City Hall in the Second Floor Training Suite. You can schedule your appointment by visiting rcblood.org/appt or calling 1-800-RED-CROSS. Sponsor Code: “StonecrestCityHall” kindly consider being a donor.

Saturday, April 29 - Community Non-Hazardous Waste Clean-up Event from 8:00AM - 12:30PM 

Join District 1 Councilwoman Tara Graves for our City's Week Clean-Up Event. 

Residents may drop off household products and large items. 

 

Lighting the way through ACTIVISM

Saturday, April 29, Autism Walk 2023 1PM - 4PM - This free event will celebrate individuals and children with autism, and will feature a community walk, various activities, and refreshments. T-shirts will be available on a first come first serve basis.

Cities across Georgia will be celebrating Georgia Cities Week, to showcase and celebrate cities and the many services they provide. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, education, and employee benefit and consulting services to its 538-member cities. The City of Stonecrest is proud to join in the 2023 celebration of Georgia Cities Week.
