In response to a fire at a local chemical plant this morning and an official request from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, DeKalb County has opened a recreation center to assist Rockdale County residents displaced by the effects of the fire.
The American Red Cross will accept evacuees at Lucious Sanders Recreation Center, 2484 Bruce Street, Lithonia, GA 30058, beginning at 9:30 p.m. tonight.
DeKalb County Emergency Management (DEMA) has provided 200 cots to assist evacuees.
