Mayor Jazzmin Cobble won the Rising in Community Excellence (RICE) Civil Servant award on Saturday.
"I am humbled and honored to receive this important award,” said Mayor Cobble. “As the mayor of this great city, this award is not only a win for me but for all of Stonecrest, our families and our friends. It is proof that we can elevate, encourage and highlight the great work we are doing together, leaving an impact that creates positive change in our community.”
Mayor Cobble’s fellow nominees were State Sen. Sonya Halpern, D-Atlanta; Levon Allen, sheriff of Clayton County; Michael J. Bond, Atlanta City Council Post 1 at large.
"Being in the company of the other great public servants in this category is certainly humbling. They all represent their communities with pride and servitude, and I am simply at awe with the servant leadership they deliver."
The nominees for the various awards were selected by a panel of industry peers, leaders in the community, and everyday people.
This year was the 14th annual awards gala.
It celebrates leaders who work tirelessly to make better the lives of those who live in the Greater Atlanta Metro area.
“This work is not easy, but it is my life’s mission to be an impactful voice that advocates for representation, resources, and an improved quality of life for the residents and business owners of this great city” said Mayor Cobble.
Earlier this year, Mayor Cobble was also honored with the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by President Joe Biden.
