On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, neighborhoods throughout the county, state, and nation are invited to join forces with Police nationwide for the “40th Annual National Night Out” (NNO).
National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), and co-sponsored locally by DeKalb County Police Crime Awareness Units. The event involves over 16,500 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 38.5 million people will participate in ‘America’s Night Out Against Crime’.
Stonecrest National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
- Generate support for, and participation in, local public safety efforts
- Expand knowledge of and engagement with outreach programs for sustainable support solutions
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and civil servant-community partnerships
- Provide educational materials on home and personal safety measures
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that Stonecrest is aware, and taking steps to maintain the safety of our neighborhoods
Neighborhoods are welcome to use your imagination, be creative, and just have some type of gathering as a show of support. When your plans are complete, kindly let your Police Precinct Education Specialist know what your plans are!
Our first responders give each and every day to our community to keep us out of harm’s way and to be there to assist in those emergency moments when we need them. Public safety is a team effort and requires more than just our first response teams to provide for our community. We invite outreach organizations to join our event and share your work and opportunities for you to support them.
Stonecrest neighbors are invited to stop by the Parks and Recreation Center to enjoy light refreshments, a cool drink, and great conversation. We simply want to give thanks to them for showing up each and every day for us.
Together we are making communities safer, more caring places to live and work. Stonecrest, “Making the Difference!”
